North Macedonia is ideally discovered from May to early October, with a particularly mild window between mid-May and late June: the meadows of Mavrovo National Park are still in bloom, the terraces of Ohrid fill up without becoming overcrowded, and the heat remains very manageable. July and August offer long evenings by Lake Ohrid, but the interior of the country can climb beyond 35°C, especially in the Skopje plain. September is arguably our favorite season to travel to North Macedonia: grape harvests in the Tikveš region, golden light on the Mariovo monasteries, Lake Prespa's waters still swimmable. Winter, meanwhile, lends itself to skiing at Popova Šapka and Orthodox festivities.
